A 40 minute train ride from the sea and from pretty much every city in the country, Ghent is a hidden historical gem in the center of little known Belgium. The medieval city has an alternative and progressive vibe to it. You can experience this best on a terrace, with a local beer on one of the many little squares, like Vlasmarkt, Oude Beestenmarkt, Veerleplein… But there’s more to Ghent then bars, there are dozens of museums, concert halls, theaters and of course the rivers full of kayaks and boats.

Ghent is a very safe city. Lots of culture and historic buildings. Food is great here. Lots of great bars too. Techno is a big thing.

Ghent is a historical city, one of the most beautiful in Belgium. It is also a student city with over more than 40,000 students. The is something for everyone, from shopping to art, from museums to sport- and music events. wait no longer and visit the astonishing city of Ghent!

When moving to Ghent, one should consider that it is a small town with a considerable student population. These students are an essential part of Ghent, but can cause considerable annoyance to the non-student population. Taking that into account, Ghent is a lively city with a busy public life, and offers a lot of opportunities for those who decide to live there.
