Fort Wayne is a surprisingly diverse city. While it is a great place to raise a family, it also boasts a lot of options for adult entertainment, including music venues and nightlife. There are quite a few festivals during the summer celebrating many different cultures and interests. The city is also large enough to give parents several choices for school districts.

Fort Wayne is a relatively small city–home to about a quarter of a million people–spread out over a large area. Though the population is generally spread-out, the downtown area is lively for a city of this size. Furthermore, due to the low cost of living (the lowest of any city in the US), the arts scene is able to thrive here, as many local artists make a decent living working part time in service positions and part time as artists.

Fort Wayne is widely known as “the city of churches”. There is a church on nearly every block. The cost of living here is low, so that attracts people from other cities, most notably Chicago and Indianapolis. The city works hard to revamp buildings, the results of which one can observe in the uptick of tourism.

I am still fairly New to Fort Wayne, as we just moved in September of last year. I will say that from what I’ve seen so far, it is a very nice city for young families. We just had our first baby in December, and I’m very excited for the different opportunities available here. There are lots of parks, trails, and playgrounds, and the Fort Wayne zoo is supposed to be wonderful! Musical events are also very popular here, as the company Sweetwater Sound is based in Fort Wayne. The cost of living is also very reasonable, especially for those wanting to buy a home!

Fort Wayne, is a medium-sized, family-friendly city. The downtown is undergoing an exciting revitalization, with new shops and restaurants opening. We also have minor league hockey, baseball, and basketball teams. Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Festival is one of the largest festivals in the state. The name of the festival refers to the three rivers which converge in the city, St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and the Maumee.
