If a person desires a rural setting with some of the conveniences of a small city, Farmington, Maine, is an excellent choice. Such advantages as a weekly farmer’s market, combined with a specialty gourmet food store will offer many pleasures of the table. Despite sky-rocketing rental costs in the major cities, rental costs for apartments and homes in Farmington are lower, in part to cater to the college students attending the local university. Although the state has been settled since the 1700’s, there are many woodland areas and lakes for outdoor enjoyment.
