If you are moving to Ebute Metta, you must first understand that there are two areas in Ebute Metta: Ebute Metta East and Ebute Metta West. Both have nice residential areas as well as commercial (and consequently, very busy areas). The West has a modern railway station and is quite busy.

Ebute Metta is generally very close to and easily accessible from the island, with multiple route options to choose from for commuting. It is a relatively peaceful and safe area, with mostly vigilante security working with the police to maintain decorum.

Houses can be very pricey depending on how recent the construction of the house is – new, semi-new, or old. Also, it depends on the facilities installed in the apartments. Unlike the island and areas like Lekki, service charges are quite reasonable, and electricity is pretty much constant due to the high supply of prepaid meters in the area and a few other influences.

There are lots of roads linking each other, and they can be messy during rainfall; however, most parts clear off quickly shortly after the rain. Depending on the area and community engagement, there are usually mobilizations when necessary to clear the drainages and keep the surroundings relatively neat.

Èbúté-metta is my neighbourhood in Lagos. Lagos, Nigeria, is a city where poor governance has robbed the people of a good life. Èbúté-metta is in close proximity to the sea which gives housing developers a hard time during construction. Residents face hardship during the rainy season due to poor drainage. Ultimately, I wouldn’t recommend any person to reside in my city.
