Before choosing to move to East Montpelier, you must first be aware of two key things. First, it is exceptionally cold in Vermont. Average February temperatures are consistently more than 10 degrees below zero. Second, there is no cell phone service in this town, which means you will be required to have a landline in order to make telephone calls from your house.

East Montpelier is a small town with winding dirt roads and a unique general store. Dudleys General Store sits next to the town’s small post office, across the street from the local mechanic. At Dudley’s, you can purchase everything from a freshly made ham and cheese hoagie to a bag of clothespins to that one odd-sized screw you need to put your roof rake together. Residents love living here for East Montpelier’s open spaces and friendly businesses.
