Dharmapuri, is a city in the western piece of Tamil Nadu, India. The city is at 126 km from Bangalore, 200 km from Coimbatore. Dharmapuri region, which appeared from 2/10/1965 is arranged in the North western Corner of Tamil Nadu and is limited by Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram Districts on the east, Salem District on the South, Krishnagiri District on the north and Kaveri stream on the west.
Our city was ruled by great King called Adhiyaman who gave Nellikani to famous tamil poet Avvaiyar. In the memory of giving precious fruit the city was called Dharmapuri. At first it named as Thagadoor, later it changed to Dharmapuri. There is a famous river called Cauvery which flows through Dharmapuri.
