Damascus grew around the intersection of several major highways. Consequently, it is home to an inordinate number of gas stations. I recall one time when there were at least four different gas stations in the center of town, each advertising a different price for a gallon of gasoline. The oldest and most well-known of these establishments is called Tucker’s, and although it is no longer serving the community, it is now preserved as an historic landmark.
