Conception Bay South (CBS) sits on an unofficial border between the Avalon Peninsula and the rest of the island; on the line that distinguishes the “Baymen” from the “Townies”. The long standing rivalry between the two groups has divided the people of Newfoundland in terms of friendly banter and drinking contests for decades. CBS is unique in that neither group of people cares to claim us as officially one or the other, and residents are often left to make their own claim on the matter. Fortunately for you, should you “come from away”, you will be declared a “mainlander”, and will not have to face the trouble of deciding between the two.
