Cockermouth is small with the quaint homely feel that one would expect such a country dwelling to possess. In spring it is overrun with daffodils in celebration of being the birthplace of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. Public transport is limited and expensive and this is not the place for a vibrant city dweller. But for those who thrive on contact with nature and places of natural beauty. you couldn’t do better than the Lake District.
