One comment on “Claygate”
Claygate is an outlying suburb of London, falling just outside the Greater London boundary, and therefore exemplifies both the positive and negative aspects of suburbia. As a town it is exceedingly safe, almost stultifyingly so, making it an ideal location in which to raise a family, but an exceedingly boring one in which to be a teenager, Its proximity to London, lying just 13 miles from Charing Cross, the city’s traditional centre, has led to an explosion in the town’s property prices, leaving it populated primarily by wealthy commuters rather than young professionals navigating their first steps on the career ladder. Despite this, one does find a rare sense of community spirit in Claygate, something often lacking in the capital’s often atomised and transient communities.
