Budapest looks breathtaking, with the Danube river between hilly Buda and flat Pest. The historic palace is at Buda, while Pest has endless numbers of wonderful art-deco buildings in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th districts. Visiting the famous ruin pubs in the evening is a popular program. Budapest is also the city of termal baths.

Budapest is a spectacular city. It is enriched by a wide variety of interesting places, such as well-known museums, restaurants with local, traditional cuisines. The prices are not so high as in the USA. Hungarian people can be really nice if they want something from you. Budapest is one of the most beautiful city in Europe. A lot of foreigners love Hungarian cuisine, but some may say it is a bit spicy, I don’t know, it’s pretty normal for me. The River Donau is gorgeous but it’s very dirty so you shouldn’t swim in it.

However, one of the most important notes when moving to Budapest is to make sure that you have acquired a good amount of the native language, i.e., Hungarian. Budapest is a gorgeous city full of nice people. They call Budapest the Paris of the East and we certainly think it lives up to its reputation. It has elegant boulevards. It has so much beautiful architecture. But it has much more grit and edge due to its years under communist rule. Walking its streets you can quickly tell that Budapest is a dynamic and living city. Know how to use public transport, because the roads are always busy. Certain parts of the city may be dangerous. Budapest is a very affordable city. I highly recommend it.

Watch out for the one-way roads, because they can confuse the person easily. Please, use public transport if using a car isn’t necessary. Using public transport much faster and greater than using cars, in Budapest, they are so many traffic jams because of the red lights. Watch out for the bridges, you can easily miss them. If you want to go to Margitsziget, you need to choose the Margit-bridge, but on the island, you can’t use cars, only bicycles. Make sure to see the famous buildings, like the Hungarian Parliament.

Budapest is a fantastic city with a rich history and an exciting present. The cost of living is fairly low, and whether your are moving for work or to attend one of our prestigious universities there will always be something for you to do in your free time. Culture and history tours are available year-round, both guided or independent, where you can enjoy getting to know the city. If history is not for you, then there are any number of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs where you can have an evening out with old friends, or go alone and make some new ones!

It’s simply the greatest city in the world. Amazing buildings and hidden spots all over the city, multicultural enough to make anyone feel at home, although probably Hungarian enough to depress you every now and then. It has a hill, a river, baths from the Roman era, great restaurants for any taste, and world-famous pubs of all kinds, most of them with cheap booze. I’ve been to many cities all over Europe, and I can tell you, I had great experiences in all of them, but nothing can compete with watching the sunset on the top of Gellért Hill, overlooking the Danube, and some of the best sights of the city.
