Bluefield is one of the tallest towns in Virginia and West Virginia. The people of Bluefield are passionate and lively despite their small numbers. The town seems boring at first glance, but under the Friday night lights, it comes alive. Bluefield has a deep cultural history and its location makes it a neighbor to the Appalachians. There are two sites in Bluefield that are registered on the National Register of Historic Places, which are the Walter McDonald Sanders House and the Alexander St. Clair House.

HELPFUL REPORT

Bluefield is where the NFL Hall of Famer, Ahmad Bradshaw grew up. For a small town of under 5,000 people, Bluefield seems to have an aptitude for football and other sports. On November 4, 2019, Mitchell Stadium was ranked as the number one high school football stadium in the United States after winning the USA Today poll with over 2 million votes.

With the mountains so close, there are dozens of possible trails to explore and connect with nature. Wynne’s Peak, at 4273 feet in the air, is a surreal experience. The town revolves around its passion for football. In the fall, the town becomes the most vibrant and it celebrates by cheering on the 2018 state high school football champions. The best time to visit my Bluefield is during the annual Graham Beaver football game. There are nearly 12,000 people in attendance. The long-standing rivalry between Graham High School and Bluefield High school goes back for decades.
