Durham City is a historic place with beautiful architecture and a great cathedral. It is built on seven hills, which can be quite steep, and the River Wear flows through the city and there are some enchanting walks along its banks. Bishop Auckland is a beautiful, historic town which was once home to the Prince Bishops. Bishop Castle still stands and is perfect for a day out with adjoining grounds and deer shelter.
