Bettendorf is comprised mostly of polite and lawful people who are happy to go about their own business, keep their lawns nicely trimmed, and become embarrassed if/when someone stops to look around and ask, “Why is it so nice?” When asked such a question, a Bettendorf resident is likely to shrug and say, “I’m not sure why it’s so nice, but please don’t tell anybody; most of us like that Bettendorf is a hidden gem.”
