At first Burdwan is a city enriched with historical essence. Burdwan is an anglicised version of the Sanskrit Vardhamana. It has a multicultural heritage. Temples explored here are reminiscent of Bengali Hindu architecture. Coming to food -Sitabhog and Mihidana are two famous sweets to honour His Majesty. Rice here is the staple food and agriculture is the main source of income. The economy of modern Burdwan is growing fast. Two large development projects on public private partnership are NH2 connecting Kolkata and Delhi on which the township lies and the mini township in Goda.

Everything about my city is awesome. Burdwan is famous for sweets. It is a peaceful city and a modern one. People in my city are helpful and kind. They would go to any extent to help others. There are numerous shopping malls, movie theaters where you can visit during free time. My city is the most amazing city one can live.

Burdwan is very hot and humid during summer and winters are dry. The quality of water is not that great. Transportation is not too bad and cheap too.

Bardhaman is an old city, historically the center of the princely estate of Burdwan. Apart from the monuments and structures made by the Burdwan princes and their British overlords, our city is the governing center of Sher Afghan, the first husband of Nur Jahan, who would later be the wife of the Emperor Jahangir of India. Presently the city is a district headquarter and has a University.
