Baliuag, Bulacan, is best known for the annual celebration of Buntal Festival every May. The local people of Baliuag always weave a lot of Buntal hats for the tourists that will visit. The town is also known for its Holy Procession every April. Almost one hundred images and statues of saints are in the street to be viewed by the locals and tourists. The local people in this town are very hospitable and generous.

For someone considering moving to our city, they must know that my city is the center of commerce in this part of the province. This means that there would be a lot of opportunities for them career and business-wise. Our city is also a mixture of industrial and agricultural lands so you can enjoy both the urban and rural way of life.

Our city is called Baliwag, (former spelled as “Baliuag”) is small compared to its neighboring cities. But we have a nice atmosphere here, lots of festivals, and friendly people. We also have a rich culture and rich economy. Our major industries focused on garments, pyrotechnics, food processing, furniture, swine, chicken production and automobile. We are famous for our product called “Buntal Hat”.

Baliwag is known for Buntal Hat. Many residents in Baliuag are making Buntal Hat. They do it for design and as their source of income. We celebrate it yearly. We do parade of our Buntal Hat showing the different designs and the quality of it. The residents here are also kind and very welcoming.

Baliuag is a first-class municipality in the province of Bulacan. As far as I remember in our history class, Baliuag was founded by Augustinian friars. Through the years, Baliuag was predominantly agricultural. We had to depend on rice farming for the main source of livelihood. Our farms yielded fruits and vegetables, which were sold in the public market. Commerce and industry also played important contributions to the economy of the people. Baliuag is also known for Buntal hat weaving. The local market grew. Prior to 2000, Baliwag was already one of the most progressive and richest towns in Bulacan. The growth of the public market has significantly changed the model of the economy of the town.

The people here are all hospitable about the people who are going to our city. I can also say that food like the Bikoy’s is one that they will like to eat. There are so many beautiful spots here like the Banal na bundok. The churches here are very great and you will have peace like the Saint Agustin Church. There are also museums here like Museo ni Maria Ponce. They will love to stay here for vacation for sure.

I think they should consider if they would make a good living in the city especially in terms of their financial stability. The jobs that are offered in our city is limited and is only offering a just amount of money or even worse, not enough to sustain a family’s needs. That is one of the reasons why many people in our city travel to a more civilized city to find a stable job that pays more than the jobs that are offered here.

I don’t know a lot about the city that I’m living in but there are places that I’m familiar with that every people probably know about that place. Such as, the St. Augustine Church and aside from that we have a school that is Catholic and I think the oldest Catholic school in the city which is St. Mary’s College of Baliuag or St. Mary’s Academy.

Our town is known for its Buntal Hat Festival which showcases different weaved buntal hats. There are other festivities during the festival. This includes job fairs, beauty pageants, street dancing, among many others. The town is also popular for its longest Lenten procession of life-sized saints depicting events in the bible.
