Ankara is a spacious, modern city that may appear that may be a bit boring for first-time visitors, however, for those digging deeper, it has so many interesting areas like Eymir Lake and it is close to many tourist destinations like Safranbolu and Cappadocia. It is generally a city that you will like more as you know more.
It is a modern European metropolis and capital of Turkey. Ancient castles and ruins from Ottoman civilizations show the view. The modern city includes government and government houses, large universities, military bases, consulates, and Youth Park, the oldest park in the city. A great place. It is famous for Anitkabir. A magnificent visual feast is experienced when changing the guards’ duties. The guards continue to stand up to change without any movement.
Anyone moving to Ankara should be aware of the city’s well-deserved reputation as a place full of government officials. That’s not to say that the city is totally without entertainment opportunities, but that the a potential Ankaranin looking primarily for fun and excitement might consider moving somewhere else. Nonetheless, the city does have its charms. They just require a bit of patience and digging.
