If you move to Amsterdam you need cash and very good friends you can stay with for a long time because a house/room in Amsterdam is almost impossible to get.

It’s super children friendly, despite the bad rap on weed and prostitution.

Amsterdam is a relatively small city and very family friendly. You can go everywhere safely by bike. Elementary public education is not very good, but it gets better at the middle school level. Culturally it has a lot to offer.

Featuring highly on most people’s bucket lists for an ideal weekend break, it actually takes much longer to look beyond the tourist highlights and get to know the warmth and charm of the Dutch capital and its residents. Amsterdam manages to strike the perfect balance between beauty and practicality, which is most perfectly typified by my daily commute along the city’s canals by bike.

While many think that living in Amsterdam does not require you to learn English, I have come to learn that is not entirely true. I must say that when in a group of Dutch friends, knowledge of Dutch will come in handy.

Amsterdam is a lively city, in which there is always something to do. Every person visiting Amsterdam must be aware of the bicycles whenever crossing the street. Because of its high standard of living, it is a quite expensive city, especially for students. However, finding job is not so difficult, even for expats.

Before moving to Amsterdam, one must understand that the rental prices for apartments or flats are higher than other cities. Researching average rents should be the first step when moving to the city. Proper research will also lead to better budgeting that would greatly help anyone who wants to move to Amsterdam.

If you are moving to Amsterdam, know that the weather can come as quite a surprise. You might wake up to a very sunny and warm day but just minutes later, dark clouds would gather up and start pouring. The people here are very assertive and friendly.
