Albany is a city surrounded by nature. People here are laid-back with an unhurried way of living. Establishments such as malls, bars, and restaurants close as early as nine pm. Regardless, there are still plenty of outdoor activities that can be done here. Albany is well-known for its nature-related adventures such as mountaineering, skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.

The city is the capital of New York and many people are public employees. In a normal year, there is a lot of activity in the Capitol building from January to June when the legislature is in session, and in particular on Tuesdays which are considered lobbying days.

Albany is the capital of New York so it is very busy. One must be prepared to be stuck in traffic during rush hour during the weekdays. However, there are a lot of nice places to visit in the downtown such as bars, cinemas, and restaurants. there are plenty of things to do in the outlying suburbs.
